Athletes are often defined by their achievements, but their identities, challenges, and lived experiences tell a much richer story. This photographic portrait series explores that depth, capturing powerful imagery alongside personal narratives from athletes ranging from university-level competitors to Olympic champions. The project challenges traditional perceptions of success in sports, highlighting the resilience, identity, and unique strengths that neurodiversity brings to the athletic world.
Created in collaboration with Neurodiverse Sport, a not-for-profit organisation founded in 2022 by former Olympic rower Caragh McMurtry and elite cyclist Mikey Mottram—this project aligns with their mission to make sport a space where neurodivergent athletes can engage, compete, and thrive with confidence.
We’ll be launching the project in March with an exhibition and an evening of thought-provoking talks, offering a platform for neurodivergent athletes to share their journeys beyond medals and rankings. Until then, I’ll be keeping the final images under wraps, but I look forward to sharing behind-the-scenes moments as we bring this project to life.
"Working with Jade on this project has been a pleasure. She’s an incredibly talented photographer and a great friend. I hope this project is recognised for its innovative and empathetic approach, its values-driven message, and that Jade herself gets the recognition she deserves for her talent."
